Constitutional Changes
Athletics NZ have put forward proposals to change their rules for the distances run at the NZ Cross Country Champs and to introduce a 24-hour event.  Details of the proposal are on theAthletics NZ website.

Members are encouraged to view the proposal and if you have any views you wish shared with ANZ please let your Committee know.

Athletics Wellington Cross Country and Road Committee chair, Todd Stevens announced a proposal to change the Masters Women age up from 35 to 40 and to offer 5km and 10km options for both Men and Women in centre events.
Masters Women Age Grade Change
Stevens states that some of the Women in Scottish and Olympic have asked for this change.  HVH has objected to being told of this proposal without any consultation and or opportunity for feedback from our women members.  We have indicated that increasing the Masters Women age to 40 creates an anomaly with the age grades of Athletics NZ and that the Centre, if anything, should be aligning it’s age grades with ANZ, in particular dropping the Masters Men age down to 35.Your HVH Executive Committee objects to the age grade change being progressed without wider consultation and understanding of what impact that might have on attracting women to our sport.  Please share your views on this proposal by completing a quick survey for us.5km and 10km Options
The other change being proposed is for events to include both a 5km and 10km option at Centre cross country and road champs events for Men and Women (and Masters) with both distances attracting championship medals.  Again, your Executive Committee is being cautious about agreeing to this change without the opportunity to consult with you our members. If you have any views on the distance proposal please email them to Tony McKone.

2016 Fees

Your registration fees are made up three components.  A levy to Athletics NZ (this is set by ANZ), a levy to Athletics Wellington (set by AW) and the remainder is HVH’s levy to assist run the club and events.

This year ANZ have increased their levies, in part due to a significant drop in levy income from 2015 which has been explained in part being due to clubs not fully declaring all their social members.  We also beleive that the expected uptake of membership due to ANZ’s drop in fees last year was negated by Athletics Wellington imposing a levy which countered all the savings provided by ANZ.

The fees for ANZ and AW for the 2016/17 year have been set at:

0 – 6yrs    AW $5; ANZ $5, total $10
7 – 14yrs  interclub (winter) AW $15; ANZ $30; total $45
7 – 14yrs recreational (winter) AW $2.50; ANZ $30; total $32.50
15 – 19yrs  AW $20; ANZ $60; total $80
20+  AW $35; ANZ $60; total $95
15+ Social AW $2.50; ANZ $30; total $32.50

HVH Registration fees, inclusive of the above levies are:

Social   – $50
Under 15  – $65
Under 20 –  $95
