The Dorne Cup races are an Athletics New Zealand Sanctioned Event. Only Athletics NZ registered athletes who are financial members in the ANZ ClubNet database are eligible to compete.
Athletes must be financial in ClubNet by midnight 6 June 2018 in order to compete.
Age Grades and Club Uniform:
Age at 31st December 2018, except Masters grades where age at 9th June 2018.
As this event is only open to Registered Club Members, the correct club uniform must be worn.
Clubs outside Athletics Wellington Centre should send a list of entries by spreadsheet, listing name, date of birth, sex, and Club name to Dave Moore (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Daryl Bloomfield (email@example.com) by 5:00pm Wednesday 6 June 2018.
Timing and Recording System:
Athletics Wellington provides the timing system. Race bibs will again be used for each of the 4 interclub races. The bibs will have timing chips on their reverse. These are new chips, not the ones previously used.
Athletes must uplift their race bib from Race HQ at least 30 minutes prior to the start of their race. Their race bib must be worn on the front of their club singlet. Their timing chips must be left securely on the reverse of the bibs. No bib or timing chips means you will not be recorded in the results.
Avoid the long queues by arriving at Trentham Memorial Park early. Race HQ is open from 11:30am
Collection of race bibs for Out of Town Athletes:
Out of town athletes can collect their race bib from the race headquarters at Trentham Memorial Park. Make sure you collect it BEFORE you head to the start line. Allow plenty of time.
Location: The races are held in Trentham Memorial Park, Trentham. Enter from Barton Avenue (off Fergusson Drive). Race headquarters will be located inside the Park adjacent to the Pavilion near the Trentham United Harrier Club Rooms.
A flat cross-country event around the picturesque Trentham Memorial Park and the Hutt River stop banks. The course is suitable for spikes. An Athletics New Zealand sanctioned event.
Protests and Appeals:
IAAF Competition Rules 146 covers protests and appeals. In the first instance, any protest must be made to the Race Referee, within 30 minutes of the finish of the race. Referee’s decision will be given to the Race Director. Any appeal must be made to the Race Director.
Athletes are reminded of IAAF Rule 144 (3)(b) which states “For the purpose of this Rule, the following examples shall be considered assistance, and are therefore not allowed…. Possession or use of video recorders, radios, CD, radio transmitters, mobile phone or similar devices in the competition area.” This rule covers the use of iPods / MP3 players. Athletes who use any such device while competing in any race at the Dorne Cup may be subject to a protest and disqualification.
Marshals are clearly identifiable with either orange or yellow Hi-Viz vests around the course. If you are injured or observe an injury or problem of any kind please report to the nearest marshal. All competitors must obey the directions of marshals. Failure to follow the directions of a marshal may result in disqualification.
The course will be marked with a combination of the following; tape, marker poles, arrows, cones and marshals. Where 2 marker poles are placed as a gate, runners must run between the marker poles. Where 1 marker pole is used, runners must run within 5m either side of the marker pole. . Failure to follow the correct course may result in disqualification.
The first four runners from each club in all grades, except Open Men, will count towards the Teams Awards.
The first six runners from each club in Race 6 will count towards the Open Men’s Teams Award, with the winning team being awarded the Dorne Cup.
An Open Men’s team may comprise Seniors, Masters 35+, 40+, and 50+. An Open Women’s team may comprise Masters 35+, 50+ and 60+
Masters who make up an Open Men’s /Women’s team who have run out of grade as a SM or SW do not also qualify for their respective Masters Men team awards, otherwise Masters who make up the Open team will also count towards their respective Masters Grade team.
Medals will be award to the first three place-getters in each grade.
Individual Masters who, with the exception of those who run out of grade, make up an Open team will qualify for the individual medals in their respective age grade.
All clubs will be invoiced after the event according to the number of individuals completing the races. Entry fees for ANZ Registered Club Members are as follows:

This loop cuts out the old horse paddock and the 2km distance is made up by an extended section that goes around the children’s soccer fields. This means the 2km loop finishes with a straight line run back up to the finish chute, as opposed to finishing on a corner as in previous years.
This loop has two sections of bush run and a longer section around the rugby fields. There is only one water crossing in the 4km loop.
