Hi Everyone

This Saturday we meet at the clubrooms as usual at 1.30pm. We have the Saunders Cup club race which will start at The Esplanade. This is a sealed handicap 10km race. U14s will race 2km, or 5km if they wish. U19/U17 can also race 5km.

The AGM will be held at 1.45pm at the clubrooms on Saturday 29 September 2012. A separate email has been sent out to all members advising of this.

It is now time for those people who received cups and trophies at last years prizegiving, to NOW please return them to the club so they can be engraved for this years prizegiving. Information about the prizegiving has been sent out.
It is to be held at “The Foggy Dew” on Saturday 13 October at 6pm.
Costs are Adults – $25, 14-19yrs – $20, 5-13yrs – $10, and under 5s free.
Paying options: If possible, could you please pay online into our account: 03-0543-0330356-000. Ensure you include your Name and the reference Prizegiving. (If you use this option, please also email me jbaron@paradise.net.nz to say you have done so, and details/ages of those attending. If you prefer not to pay online, you can pay at the club over the next couple of Saturdays. We require numbers of those attending by Friday 5 October. But sooner would be better.

Victoria Taylor is now over half way with her length of New Zealand run raising awareness and money for Child Cancer. A group of HVH runners ran with her into Wellington from Plimmerton or joined in on the way. She is doing amazing, but is in need of support. She has a support person till Christchurch, and a driver to drive till 8.30 in the evenings. Ideally she would like to run beyond 8.30pm some days, so a replacement or additional driver is also really needed. If you are able to help in any way or know someone who is able to, please let me know. OFFICIALS AND MARSHALS FOR INTER-PROVINCIAL SCHOOLS CROSS COUNTRY

Wellington is hosting the Inter-Provincial Primary and Intermediate Schools cross country at QE Park (MacKays Crossing) on Thursday 27 September. This is the culmination of winter’s efforts for our local schools. Help is being sought from officials/experienced athletes to help manage the event. CLUB JACKETS AND BAGS

Black jackets and gear bags with our club logo in orange are being given to our U20 and U17 age group members for their use. We ask that these items be returned if members leave the club and they are in good order. For other members: Bags $35. Jackets $40.

THURSDAY NIGHT SHOE CLINIC RUN

For those who want to enjoy a relaxed hour long run, you are welcome to join Steve Robertson (Deputy Club Captain) who leads a pack run from the Lower Hutt Shoe Clinic at 6pm every Thursday evening. This group also has a small group of walkers. The packs go out for around an hour. Please meet at the Shoe Clinic, High Street, Lower Hutt by 5.55pm.

SPEEDWORK

Speedwork is held every Wednesday evening at the Riverside Carpark (over the stopbank from Countdown Supermarket). We meet at the northern end of the carpark, near Harvey Norman, at 6.15pm.

Speedwork is for anyone who wants to increase their running tempo or who is looking for a more intensive workout than those provided by the Thursday or Saturday pack runs. The programme each night includes warm-ups and running drills, and will include hill running, repetitions and tempo runs as we progress.

Speedwork will be on wet or fine, warm or cold. Harriers is a winter sport and you will get wet – so don’t wimp out if the weather is a bit damp and cold. We’ll adapt the programme to suit the conditions.

This site is intended to complement the official website, and is available for members to share photos, favourite runs, and other information on running and walking. The Mad Butcher

The Lower Hutt Mad Butcher has once again agreed to support our club by providing sausages for our club run day barbeques. We appreciate the support the Mad Butcher gives us and ask members to return this support by considering purchasing your meat produce from the Lower Hutt Mad Butcher.
