Newsletter: 16 May

THIS WEEK

This week (Sat 18 May) we meet at the clubrooms at 1:30pm. Run and walking groups will depart the clubrooms at 2:00pm.

There was a good turnout for University Relays last weekend.

There were no relays for the youngsters, instead they ran a short course and they all did well. In particular Eva Green was first in U12 Girls, Jessica McKenzie second in U14 Girls, Anna green third in U10 Girls and Alex Lister third in U10 Boys. We had two boys teams in the relays running as Young Men (under 20). They acquitted themselves well even though most of them were under 16. We also had a number of Open and Masters Men and Women teams running.

NORTH ISLAND CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The North Island Cross Country Champs will take place in Taupo on 6 July this year.

These outside trips have been very successful in terms of team bonding,so we encourage members to consider taking part in such events this year. We have fielded teams in Taupo before and generally members have travelled with their families. We hope to receive a grant from the Pelorus Trust to cover accommodation costs in Taupo. We have reserved a number of Family Units in a local motel for Friday 5th and Saturday 6th July and need the numbers to confirm this booking. Single Men and single women travelling on their own may need to share their accommodation with families (separate bedrooms!)

We need to have a firm commitment for those who wish to take part by 1 June.
