Coming soon: Opening Day 2024

The long Summer days are drawing to an end and that can only mean one thing: a new Harriers season!

Get your running gear clean and ready for the HVH 2024 season opening day April the 6th 2024. As usual there will be a club run and afternoon tea following the run.

Whether you already have an association with the club, or you’re just interested to see what it’s all about, all are welcome to come along for a run or walk with our friendly packs, and talk to us about joining for the season.

Please bring a plate for afternoon tea, otherwise there will only be afternoon water, and that would be sad.

Meet at the club rooms: 1.30pm

Notices and pack organisation: 1.45pm

Run/walk: 2pm

What happens on opening day?

  • We will have three different running packs, for faster, medium and slower paced runners, and also a walkers pack each lead by one of our current members. They will be about an hour in length.
  • Separate running pack for juniors (parents are welcome and encouraged to run with their kids)
  • After the run we have an afternoon tea / sausage sizzle at the clubrooms
  • Changing rooms and showers are available
  • Learn a bit about what the harriers season involves

What type of memberships are there?

  • Social membership. Allows you to go for a pack run matching your pace every Saturday afternoon starting and finishing at the clubrooms. You will also be able to participate in our internal club races that happen a few times a year if you wish to. You can also enter in some relay races as part of a team against other clubs, they are a great way to try out the competitive side of things. There is always a sausage sizzle and a chance to socialise after club days!
  • Competitive Membership. Allows you all of the benefits of a social member as well as entry into at least four competitive races involving other clubs. There are different distances and course variations for the different age grades. The races are as competitive as you want them to be, i.e. if you are fast you will have competition. If you are not so fast you will still have competition, or you can just work on improving your pace.
