Christchurch, 3-4 February 2001Well all my prejudices about the weather were blown apart by hot and sunny conditions (31 deg on Saturday!) throughout the whole meet. A small crowd but good atmosphere of friendly but close competition - and it is good for our sport to see the regular club 'cannon fodder' mixing it with some of the top athletes in the nation.
Valleys finished in 4th place in division 2, an agonising 2 participation points behind Pegasus club. Our division (div 2) was won by Tasman Tigers (despite the fact that their team manager complained before the meet that they could not rustle up their best team!). Div 1 was won by Counties Manukau. At the annual meeting it was resolved to continue the league competition with some minor changes.
Thanks to Annette and Ian for organising a good trip, good accommodation, a smooth weekend!
