Wyatt takes out Mountain Running Grand Prix Series
Jono Wyatt has claimed the euros 10,000 first prize for winning
the 2003 World Mountain Running Association Grand Prix Series.
Jono already had an unassailable lead in the series going into
the final race, the 8.9km Hochfelln Berglauf race in Bergen, Germany
on Sunday.
He beat his nearest rival over the course of the grand prix series,
Italian Marco Gaiardo, by over two minutes in the race that featured
a climb of just over 1000m.
It has been an outstanding European Tour for Jono, the three-time
world mountain running champion.
Electing to pass up the opportunity to defend his world mountain
title in Alaska, Jono dominated the grand prix series winning all
five races he contested, and adding victories in five other mountain
running events at distances of between 4.5km and marathon distance.
