Please note the change in dates to the syllabus. VISIT TO OLYMPIC HARRIERS is now this Saturday 28 May
We join Olympic Harriers for their historical Grand Memorial races this Saturday. (Originally we had our visit to Olympic for the following weekend, but we were unaware of Olympic’s plan). However, it is a fun course. It is held at Bryant’s Farm, Boom Rock Rd at Ohariu Valley. We meet at the event in plenty of time for the races. The event finishes with afternoon tea at Olympic clubrooms.
The main Grand Memorial event is an exciting open handicap race for the 14-and-overs runners. There are two different distances, with the women’s grades and the junior men’s grades running 4km, and the senior and masters mens grades running 8km. This race will start approximately 2:00pm.
At 1:30pm the boys and girls have their own scratch (non-handicap) races before the main race – B/G9 running 1km, and B/G11/13 running 2km.
The course is the ultimate in traditional cross country. There are no big hills, but the terrain is rugged farmland, with stream crossings. The ground can be slippery, particularly if it’s wet, so spikes or grippy shoes are a must.
